Hello everyone, the Rock here. Good to see you again. Today marks the beginning of Cold Dew, and you can really feel the temperature dropping, especially with that distinct chill in the air morning and evening.
“White dew turns cold in September; autumn grasses yellow beyond the frontier.” When the ancients climbed heights during this season, it wasn’t just for exercise—they also believed it helped ward off negative energy and welcome good fortune. Standing atop a hill, feeling the breeze, looking out at the hills covered in those fiery autumn colors—it’s like stepping right into a painting. At this moment, a warm cup of chrysanthemum tea at the mountain top—watching the golden petals unfurl in the water feels like taking a sip of the entire autumn.
During Cold Dew, it’s also the time to enjoy sesame. The saying goes, “Sesame stalks bloom higher with each joint,” symbolizing a life that gets better and better. Plus, sesame is known for nourishing the liver and kidneys, as well as relieving the dryness of autumn—it’s both delicious and good for your health.
Cold Dew may bring dew and chill across the land—but though the weather cools, life can stay warm. When you climb a mountain, gaze into the distance, savor sesame treats, and sip chrysanthemum tea, and in these simple autumn rituals, you turn everyday life into something warm and poetic.
